A night at the movies

The end of the dance year recital was this past Saturday and the theme was "A night at the movies". It has been a long year of Monday night practices, but the end was finally here. Ry was super excited for not only the recital, but for the "fancy hair" she was going to have.

The past 2 weeks have been very hectic to say the least, and we are only one family involved. How Miss Angie and Miss Sarah have kept up all year plus this is beyond me. It's amazing, almost like organized chaos.

Saturday morning Grandma Bonnie came over to paint Ry's toes and fingers to match her dress for the recital. While she was there, I took the time to run to town and get some last minute things. While I was gone, Quinnie got her toes painted too and couldn't wait to show me when I walked in the door.

A quick lunch and then off to the beauty shop. Ry and I didn't care what style her hair was done in, I just wanted it up and out of her face. Ry just said she wanted "fancy hair". Thanks to Doreen at Hairs the Thing in Milltown for the excellent job! Ry's hair was super cute and she loved it!! She thinks that she should wear it like that for Molly's wedding in January.

Since this was the 1st recital for Rylee, we invited the whole family and some friends to come and watch. I know that recitals can be quite long especially when Ry only dances twice for about 3 minutes each. But, none the less, most of the family was able to make it. Those that couldn't had to work, but don't worry- we taped it! The gym was packed and we ended up sitting 2 rows from the top of the bleachers in the back. It was a great view, but not the best for picture taking. If I only had a nice camera! (wink, wink)

The 1st routine was to a song from Sleeping Beauty and the girls wore Princess Dresses. Ry thought this was the best dress ever!

The 2nd routine was to Singing in the Rain and the girls wore little rain jackets with hats and boot covers. It too was super cute!
The final number had all the girls involved. Ry was only out there for a few seconds, but still did a pretty good job we think

After the finale, I grabbed Ry for some pictures in her Princess outfit as there was a wardrobe malfunction with the rain costume.

Ry with Miss Kacy! Are they just not super cute!
Ry really didn't want to take a picture with us, but I was determined- even if that meant no smile. By this point, she was tired and had enough of everything. Time to go home.

What a beautiful Princess
Since GG couldn't make it to the recital, we went to visit her after it was done. We brought Quinn with along with Jack and Henry.
At first Rylee didn't think she was going to get any flowers, but boy was she surprised! She got 6 different bouquets before the night was done!. They are super pretty and very fragrant. They dress up my table pretty nicely right now.

Even though it was a lot of time, energy, and money- I am glad Ry had such a great dance experience this year. She really did well and had a good time. Hopefully she will be up to dancing next year when she will be in Pre-K. It's hard to believe she is growing up so fast!

An Easter Event

This year Easter seemed more like a marathon then a celebration. We started out Saturday morning by going to the Polk Co Sheriff's Dept Egg Hunt in SCF. It was a bit windy out, but the girls were excited. My sister and her kids were here for the weekend so they came with us. Joel and his family were suppose to come but came down with the stomach flu, so as much fun as it would have been to have them there with us, we were glad they stayed home and kept the germs to themselves.

Later that afternoon we headed up to Luck to celebrate Easter with my side of the family. It was a ton of good food- too much food if you know my Mom. It was nice though as GG was able to have dinner with us and the kids loved that. I think GG did too!

Mom went out of her way to hide eggs, and she did a pretty good job too. Each kid was suppose to find 8 of their eggs, color coded so there would be no fighting. Mom thought Colin would like the camo eggs, which he did, until he couldn't find all of them because they blended in with the grass and leaves. It took a lot of searching, but all eggs were finally found. Note to Grandma- no camo eggs next year please.

Kellen and Colin searching for eggs. They are getting so big! Kellen is catching up to Colin pretty fast in height.
By this time, Quinn was on her 2nd hunt of the day and was getting the hang of it.
Haley and Rylee. Rylee just adores Haley and Haley is so good to put up with her.
Ry showing her boy cousins that she can wrestle just as good as they can

Easter morning at out house. Ry noticed the Easter Bunny had visited outside and couldn't wait to get out there!
The Easter Bunny really made Ry work for her eggs this year.
By now Quinnie was a seasoned pro at finding eggs. That was until she saw the swing and wanted nothing to do with the egg hunt. After a few minutes on the swing, we were able to convince her to finish looking for eggs and her basket.

Miss Ry with her basket of goodies. She got new sunglasses, a Cinderella video (Brandy version), a yo-yo and a jump rope. She was in Heaven!
Miss Quinnie got some new "Dowa" cups, some Wonderpet things to drag around, 2 new books and some "Dowa" sunglasses. She is in love with "Dowa" if you couldn't tell.

After a rest, we headed over to Doug and Annette's for Easter egg hunt and then lunch. Doug and Luke hid the eggs this year and they were not super nice about it. Note to self- stay on their good side or your egg will be next to impossible to find!

Everyone had an egg to find and then the kids got to find the extra eggs. I think there were 87 eggs total this year.

Annette has the ability to find the funnest things for the girls and this year was no different. As you can tell by the bunny glasses, even the adults had fun with them.

Miss Ry with her glasses. Each girl got 2 pair of Bunny glasses along with a TON of candy (no exaggeration- way too much candy), clothes, and some other fun stuff.

The weather was great and we spent a ton of time outside. I was glad to get home though and relax a bit before the work week started back up. Even the girls were super tired. They both fell asleep before we made it to HWY8

Egg-cellent Job

Annette asked us to come over one night to dye Easter eggs as Chris was back to work (finally) and on the afternoon shift. I was running late from work so thankfully Annette was able to pick the girls up for me and I met them at her house. Brad, Denise and Naomi showed up to help too. Auntie Molly was suppose to be there but had to work late so it was just a few of us.

The girls had a blast coloring the eggs. Ry was trying so hard to use the dipper thing that came with the dye set, but it didn't always work so well.

Miss Quinnie getting her 1st chance to dye eggs. She was a bit too little last year to really help.

Thankfully, Grandma didn't mind getting heavily involved as it was definitely a hands on kind of night.

Who ever created Easter Egg dye that was non-toxic was super smart. Especially since Quinn was full-on, hands in the egg dye along with trying to drink it and eat the eggs. It was quite a mess and quite the sight. All I can say is thank goodness it washes off.

As much as she likes to get dirty, Quinn also hates having her hands dirty. She is always asking for a napkin to wipe her hands off. Thank goodness Grandma and Grandpa have the huge bathtub that the girls can practically swim in. All was good until there was a little poop in the tub- needless to say Grandma ended up giving the girls a quick shower while I scooped the poop and sanitized the toys.

The girls were exhausted by the time we got home and were sound asleep the moment their little heads hit the pillow.
